Home also to the sweetest lanzones in the country, Camiguin Island lies off the coast of Misamis Oriental. For such a small island, with a land area of only 238 sq.km., Camiguin’s abundant and diverse natural resources will satiate every naturalist’s palate. Whether you like adventure, a relaxing vacation, or just in-between, Camiguin has everything for everyone.

Trek to Katibawasan or Tausan Falls with their inviting clear cool waters. Or soak in the therapeutic waters of Ardent Hot Spring. Snorkeling and diving are exceptionally popular in Tangub and Jicduf Shoals. Thanks to the abundant natural reefs, the waters here teems with exotic marine life providing spectacular diving and snorkeling experience.

To the adventurous, hike to one of the islands 7 volcanoes including Mt. Hibok-Hibok which is still active. The summit rewards its hikers a magnificent view of the island and sea beyond.
White Island is probably the most-photographed spot in Camiguin. How about basking in the sun on the pristine white sand with Mt. Hibok-Hibok as your backdrop. It can’t get any better than that.
Other places of interest are the Underwater Sunken Cemetery, Macao Cold Spring, Tanguines Lagoon, Agohoy Beach, and Mantigue Island. Camiguin is also rich in history, from the Spaniards, to the Japanese, to the Americans occupation, and even to the destructive eruptions of Mt. Hibok Hibok.

Also worth visiting are the ancestral houses and centuries-old churches that dot the island.
Camiguin promises every traveler who visits her a vacation beyond one’s expectation. But beware. This tiny island has a magnetic force that will draw you back to her. As you sail your way back to the mainland, a voice will ring in your ear calling you to come again… come again… come again to Camiguin.

Getting there:
From Manila, take a direct flight to Cagayan de Oro City airport. Take a cab to the Agora Market and board a bus bound for Balingoan which is about 88 kilometers from the city. From Bilingoan, take any of the hourly ferry to Benoni Wharf in Camiguin. Local transportation is available within the island.

Accommodation:
The island has a long list of hotels, inns, and resorts to choose from that will suit your budget and preference. Consult your travel agent.

Other Facts:
Mambajao is the capital of the Camiguin. Places of interests and activities are within arms-reach from each other due to the size of island. Cebuano and Hiligaynon are dialects spoken. The lanzones festival is held on the 3rd week of October to celebrate the harvest of the delectable fruit.

    i’ve never been to camiguin, but now i’m thinking of seeing it. the photo and the description of the place are very inviting. we’ve been to oahu and maui islands in hawaii, and this photo here of camiguin reminds me of one of the beaches there. camiguin looks like a very romantic place.
