plants-village.jpgThis ‘collection of little stores’ is a pinoy motif shopping and entertainment complex located along C-5 in Pasig City. It is divided into several villages that showcase Philippines’ bests:

Handicrafts Village - export quality handicrafts
Fashion Village - shoes, bags, etc.
Personal Care and Novelties Village - soaps, lotions, etc
Garden Village - plants
Antiques Village - antique finds from all over the country
Furniture Village - export quality furnitures
Food Village - Yum-o! everything from Bacolod’s chicken inasal, seafoods, inihaw, lechon, pansit, pulutans and other high caloric pinoy foods
Delicacies Village - balikbayans’ delights such as longganisa, danggit, balut, okoys, etc. My friend Pat and I went here and had hot chocolate after heavy dinner. I bought flavored sumans; chocolate, ube and latik - they’re all fantastic.
People’s Village - this is where they hold trade shows, exhibits and other cultural presentations.
Pets Village - this is my favorite village and the reason how i came to know Tiendesitas. My tennis pal in Virginia asked me to buy a pair of shoes for his terrier. It is heartening to know that we have a proliferation of pet stores and day care centers for pets. This should change the impression abroad that Filipinos grow their dogs only to serve them up later as pulutans. So please repeat after me, ‘We, Filipinos, grow our pets and love and treat them like family. Amen’.

Shopping is the major activity in the complex where haggling is also the name of the game. It goes all the way into a night market up until midnight.  The restrooms are tropical motiff and are clean.  There are rest areas and a large parking area.

Check out their website at www.tiendesitas.org.

Tiendesitas is a good venue to spend a \day with out family. Not only Tiendesitas has good and affordable filipino menu. Tiendesitas has a wide array of entertainment for every member of the family. There is a section where things from the garden are being displayed, section for shopaholics (where usual stuffs are from greenhils, tutuban and the likes) and of course (my personal favorite)sections for pet lovers. These varity made tiendesitas flexible to all market brackets. Price ranges from cheap to average relative to prices in tutuban and greenhills. The place though is not accessible for commuters. This makes shopping in tiendesitas a little bit more comfortable than other places in manila.
